Tilly sconces gold leaf & copper leaf finishes
Tilly wall lights are cylindrical clay plates backlit by an LED disc.
The circles are glazed with ash and cobalt oxide juice. Gold, copper or silver leaf has been applied to the surface to highlight the roughness of the raw material and interact with the glazes.
Tilly wall lights are made to measure, by hand, from Saint-Amand chamotte stoneware. The colours of the clay, oxide juices and metal leaf can be varied on request.

Beyond its function, lighting is a plural, visual and tangible medium for expressing materiality. The light source reveals the textures of the ceramic by highlighting them in relief and in colour. Or it is switched off and the object becomes sculptural. It is then the form that is revealed against the light.
