The base of the Saint-Amand stoneware lamp is unglazed. The raised lines and engraved strokes and petals evoke the origins of writing on clay. The delicate gold and copper leaves are set against the unglazed stoneware, creating a dialogue between metal, clay and its reliefs. The lampshade, custom-made by a Parisian lampshade manufacturer, is made of unbleached Sennelier paper.

Lighting
Beyond its function, lighting is a plural, visual and tangible medium for expressing materiality. The light source reveals the textures of the ceramic by highlighting them in relief and in colour. Or it is switched off and the object becomes sculptural. It is then the form that is revealed against the light.
